Title: Bad Karma (Short Films of Alex Chandon)
Year: 1992
Genre(s): Horror, Comedy, Splatter
Country: UK
Language: English
Directed By: Alex Chandon
Audio/Picture Quality: B

This has to be one of the best home made horror films I have seen. It has a miniscule budget, no acting talent whatsoever but has some really unique and unusual ideas. It appears to be the film-makers friends and family who take part in the film and have a good laugh along the way. The plot revolves around some Hari Krishna aliens who arrive at the door of a party and subsequently morph (in the tackiest way possible) into hideous ghouls. We also meet a gang of redneck alien killers who only increase the amount of spilled blood and guts immensely. What made this film work for me was the enthusiasm that everyone appeared to have and the results that were achieved on such a miniscule budget. The FX are incredibly tacky and plasticy but can be quite ingenious given the limitations the folk involved must have had. You really have to see this film to appreciate it as it has to be seen to be believed.

Title: Black Devil Doll From Hell
Year: 1984
Genre(s): Horror, Comedy
Country: USA
Language: English
Approx. Running Time: 70 Min
Directed By: Harry Rasky
Audio/Picture Quality: C

I can't remember when I laughed so damned hard in my life! There are some legitimate comedies that haven't tickled me this much, definitely a "So-Bad-It's-Good" classic. The story concerns one Shirley Black (Shirley L. Jones), a deeply religious woman who stops at a thrift shop and buys a doll that looks a lot like Webster with French braids. The woman running the store tells Shirley that the doll was the property of an East Indian gentleman with strange powers (although the doll has a West Indian hairstyle, but, never mind) and that it always returns to the store under its own power. Hearing that should put anyone off of purchasing the doll, but not our intrepid and spiritual Shirley (so brave and righteous is she that she preaches to men trying to sell her stolen merchandise on the street). She buys it and even tells it "You'll be the only man to see me naked other than my husband" before taking a shower. She then has visions of being attacked by the doll. Once again, anyone else would be getting rid of the doll at this point. But Shirley hangs on to it. The next day, it jumps out of a closet and knocks her unconscious. It then ties her to the bed and has its way with her before running back to the thrift shop. Shirley is then sent into a downward spiral of sexual degradation as she looks for the thrill that her "little woodenheaded bastard" has given her with mere mortal men. Let's face it, once you've gotten it on with a doll that looks like a cross between "Lester" of Willie Tyler & Lester fame and Stevie Wonder on the HOTTER THAN JULY album cover, well, no flesh and blood piece will do (Meshach Taylor's line from MANNEQUIN comes to mind: "I would never interrupt you while you were getting a piece of wood."). Other people I know who have seen BLACK DEVIL DOLL FROM HELL have also had the same reaction: Utter hilarity! Especially at the Mr. T-sounding voice of the doll. No original copies are known to exist of this movie, plus it was shot on an extremly low budget with inferior equipment, so the quality isn't the greatest but I have a feeling it's not going to get much better then this...

Resembling a cross between "The Amityville Horror" and a Playboy Playmates video, this film tells the terrifying tale of a cheesy video special effect that stalks bikini-clad women. In between scenes of them playfully splashing each other and wrestling with each other's bathing suit tops, they're murdered and/or terrorized by horrific hallucinations. These hallucinations include seeing blood in the shower stalls (while they're trying to lather up), having giant monsters jump out of the hall closet, and seeing their faces temporarily turn into rubber halloween masks.

Made in less than a month, this Star Wars rip off was released in Brazil a full 5 months before the original Star Wars hit Brazilian theaters, causing it to be a South American smash hit! Starring the Brazilian 3 Stooges, The Tramps; the
film features just about every Star Wars character you can think of; as well as some of the most embarrassingly bad sets, special effects and disco dance numbers you will ever find in a movie. The majority of the movie feels like a throw
away Sid & Marty Krofft show; complete with shot on video effects, amazingly retarded monster masks, and astoundingly stupefying musical numbers! A true must see bad movie rarity, and it’s actually much more fun to watch than any of the Star Wars movies. There aren't any subtitles but the "movie" barely has any dialogue anyway.

Title: Zombie Bloodbath
Year: 1993
Genre(s): Horror, Splatter, Zombies,
Country: USA
Language: English
Approx. Running Time: 90 Min
Directed By: Todd Sheets
Audio/Picture Quality: B

Cult horror director Todd Sheets shot this, the first of his ZOMBIE BLOODBATH films, completely on video. It boasts over 700 zombies, audacious gore effects, awful acting, and a slightly incoherent script. The result, of course, is a fast-paced and gleefully perverse zombie film that obviously owe a huge debt to Fulci for its intensely stylized photography and action sequences. The plot has something to do with a severe nuclear meltdown in the middle of Kansas, which kills thousands and is promptly covered up, literally, by the government. Soon, a new town is built on top of the one that was destroyed and its new residents soon find out that nuclear radiation + people = hordes of flesh eating zombies.

Title: Zombie Bloodbath II: Rage of the Undead

Country: USA
Language: English
Approx. Running Time: 98 Min
Directed By: Todd Sheets

Todd Sheets, director of such fare as INVASION OF THE INTERGALACTIC GRANNIES and BLOODTHIRSTY CANNIBAL DEMONS, follows up 1993's ZOMBIE BLOODBATH with this sequel. In it, a group of college kids who inadvertently help to raise the dead when they happen upon a grisly murder at an old farmhouse. Those who escape with their lives find themselves followed by hordes of zombies and must figure out how stop these undead beasts before they can destroy their sleepy college town. Gleefully perverse and unabashedly stylish, ZOMBIE BLOODBATH II obviously owes a huge debt to George Romero and Lucio Fulci's zombie films, but its distinct style and B-movie sense of humor are distinctly its own.
